"My Approach to Non-Objective Painting Using Decollage"
Cindy Mersky is an award-winning artist, born in Edmonton, Alberta. She has earned recognition as an Elected Member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and a Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (FCA). Cindy completed a 4-year program in Visual Communications at the Alberta College of Art and continued her studies at the University of Toronto, where she earned a B.Sc. AAM (Art as Applied to Medicine. Ongoing instruction through internationally recognized schools, including the School of Visual Arts in NYC and the Ontario College of Art and Design, have provided additional tools for creative exploration and expression. After moving to Vancouver Island in 2010, Cindy started to paint full-time and to work exclusively within the genre of non-objective abstract painting. She continues to push her own boundaries and is now incorporating décollage and utilizing various non-traditional tools, such a power-sanders, to develop her works.
